It's been a while since my last post and things have settled to a sort of friendly foretell experience with work. I just passed the first month of being alone and far away from my family - a real milestone - and there's a mixture of pleasure for having successfully ignoring of being homesick, as well as a dire feeling that the next months of my life in china will be unlucky . Hopefully the second month will roll on smoothly!
Yesterday we went to Quanzhou with our chinese friends. Quanzhou, also called Licheng and Citong Cheng in Pinyin, is one of the most famous historical and cultural cities here in China.

Renshou pagoda
Built in 686 on Xijie Street of urban Quanzhou, it was called the Lianhua, Xingjiao, and Longxing temple before it got the present name in 738. It is a national historical relic under key state protection.
Kaiyuan Temple is the oldest and largest Buddhist building in Fujian Province. The temple was founded in 7th century during Tang Dynasty and reached its peak during Song Dynasty when 1000 monks lived there.

Built in the 13th century The twin pagodas are famous for their vivid sculptural details, exquisitely carved decorations, and inside, one of them has forty ancient Buddhist stories inscribed on its walls.
