BUON GIORNO ITALIA: Squillace

February 27, 2016
38°47′N 16°31′E
SQUILLACE, CATANZARO

Squillace is a very small town in the province of Catanzaro and  the best way to move around the town is on foot. The main center of the town is very compact and most sight seeing attractions are located closely to the center of the town. It can all be covered within a day.

What to see:
The Duomo of Squillace (18th century medieval Norman Cathedral)
Immacolata Church (San Nicola delle Donne church )
San Matteo Church
Palazzo Pepe
Chiesetta of Santa Maria Della Pietà
The Castle of Squillace --- Admission fee (inside) 3 € / garden and sorroundings FREE

How to get here:
TRAIN : regional train from cities in the region as well from other destinations in Italy
BUS: state buses that operate in the region connect the town to Catanzaro and several other smaller towns in the region. I usually used Troiolo Bus, their buses are new, clean and more relaxing while traveling because of their new coaches. Troiolo buses depart every few hours from their respective town locations and tickets can be bought by calling their office for reservation or pay in their website. There are also Troiolo buses departing from Rome.
CAR: Those who have their own cars can also drive down to the town quite easily. My husband usually have our weekend roadtrip. It is much easier, more fun traveling and stop whenever you want to take some photos along the road without thinking of other passengers.

BUON GIORNO ITALIA: Crotone's Isola di Capo Rizzuto

January 1, 2016
38°57′32″N 17°05′44″E
CROTONE, ITALY

Le Castella can be found in Isola di Capo Rizzuto, a comune in the province of Crotone, Calabria, Italy. This 13th Century Argonese castle can only be visited on foot since there is only a narrow strip of land that connects the island to Crotone. Besides being a look out point for sea pirates attack for years,  it was also known as being the mythical hiding place of Ulysses in book of Odyssey.

Admission fee: Le Castella's sorrounding is free ; but to go inside the tower is 3€

How to get here:
CAR: Usually my husband and i went here by car. It is much easier and cost effective if you are going on a roadtrip and visit other nearby places.

PLANE: nearest airport here is Lamezia Terme, since the Crotone domestic airport is already closed.

TRAIN: Crotone also has a railway station and is easy to reach by train from the surrounding areas, then a short ride from a bus.

BUS: They have regional buses from north Italy.  I usually used Troiolo or Federico Bus Company.

My super late photos last Christmas 2015. Hope you'll still get inspired to go to Rome even its really a touristy place. But hey i enjoyed the chilly weather, the Roman foods are amazing and those handsome priests walking around yum! (hehehe, sorry Luke ). I will try to make all my past travel itineraries soon one at a time...promise. I've been struggling to be a good wife and i am busy getting bored this days 😂.
